Module 3: Principles of Floortime and the role of the therapist

Click on the links below to access the course materials for this module

1) Watch recorded lecture
  • Download slides - Download transcript in English - Transcript in Georgian (draft)

2) Review videos of Floortime in action:
    a) Floortime as a human development model: understanding children's emotions (early video featuring Dr. Greenspan explaining children's first emotions and               Floortime). Look at Dr. Greenspan interacting with a girl, using Floortime principles (starts around minute 8). While she is not autistic, Dr. Greenspan would               use the same principles to interact with autistic children, adapting to the child's individual differences and functional emotional developmental capacities.
    b) Video example and reading materials at Interacting with autism website describing Floortime
    c) PLAY project - (1) home visit video example - (2) interview with mother describing her experience with Floortime

3) Complete exercise for module 3 - IMPORTANT: Please do this exercise as a GROUP (or individually if not possible) BEFORE the next online meeting (April 28th), and send via email the completed exercise to drbreinbauer@gmail.com . I plan to use these exercises to have a more interactive discussion during the online meeting or webinar, based on YOUR cases!

4) RECORDING OF ONLINE MEETING
  • Powerpoints used during online meeting.
Recommended explanations to further learn about Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) and Autism from the SPD Foundation website.
